WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) — this technology of the wide Wi-Fi access to Internet. WiMAX based on IEEE 802.16 standards. WiMAX technology is developing by international WiMAX Forum, founded in 2000. Today, this non commercial organization joint hundreds of the companies — equipment producers and deliverer of the mobile connection and internet access.
WiMAX nets could work in two variants of the access: fixing and mobile.
Mobile WIMAX gives opportunity to get either fixed access ( as xDSL, but without cables) or access to Net from any other place in the frame of covering zone, and even during moving.
First and biggest Net Mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard) in Azerbaijan were developed by Sazz.
What does Mobile WiMAX do?
The same as the fixed access, which is the most popular type of the access to internet, Mobile WiMAX provide high speed access to the internet — till 10 Mbit/s. It helps to download big files (for example films) watch video clips and TV Programs, participate in on-line games in mobile regime.
For the access to the Net you don't need to connect cables — in the coverage area your comp or mobile device with build in chip or modem will find net itself. It looks as Wi-Fi, but the zone of activity is much wider. For Wi-Fi — it is local net limited by office or café, for mobile WiMAX — it's the city!
Developing of the Mobile WiMAX in the World.
Mobile WiMAX technology is an active developing in the World, projects on creating WiMAX net are existing in many countries. The population is already familiar with this technology, and accept it as one of the most innovative, which helps to get high quality informational services.
Development of the technology is going on in different directions. The communication operators open the communication net, producers of the equipment start to produce mobile devices for the users: modems, notebooks, CPC, phones, routers with all kind of Mobile WiMax support. The World known leaders starts the producing of such kind technologies already: Samsung, Intel, ASUS, HTC, Lenovo and others. Meantime, the national nets of Mobile WiMAX start to work in Russia (Yota), USA (Clear), Korea (KT WiBro) and Japan (UQC).
Developing of the wide nets, devices' market and formations of the clients demand -brings us to «domino effect», when new nets are opening and new devices are delivering to the market faster and easier.
The next step of the Mobile WiMAX development should be the new standard — IEEE 802.16m, which is now at the stage of testing. With this technology standard the transmission of the information to the clients device will be possible faster — till 100 Mbit/s. The standard is available to work with active (for now) IEEE 802.16e, so the client don't need to use new devices for the modernization of the net.
